1972
Launch of Our First Township
From humble beginnings as a rubber plantation, Taman Melawati is today a mature and sought after housing area in Kuala Lumpur.
1974
Launch of the Subang Jaya Township
Upon its launch, Subang Jaya had an initial population of about 27,000. Today, with a vibrant population of over 700,000, it is often seen as the benchmark for townships across the country.
1984
Establishment of Sime UEP Properties Bhd
United Estates Projects Berhad was the original developer of Subang Jaya. It was then acquired by the Sime Darby Group to further develop Sime Darby’s oil palm plantation lands.
1990
Bukit Jelutong Development Commences
Bukit Jelutong is a planned upscale community that is highly sought after due to its tranquil parks and open grass areas peppered with low density bungalows and duplex houses.
1991
KLGCC Opens To the World
The Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club is nestled in the lush landscape of Mont' Kiara, a mere stone’s throw away from Kuala Lumpur. It remains as the only Malaysian golf club listed in the world’s top 100.
2007
Merger of Giants
This landmark deal in Malaysia’s corporate history saw Sime Darby Bhd, Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad, and Golden Hope Plantations Bhd merging to become one of the world’s largest listed palm oil groups.
2011
Launch of Affordable Housing Project in Bandar Ainsdale
Working in collaboration with PR1MA, Sime Darby Property launched its first affordable housing project in Bandar Ainsdale in Negeri Sembilan.
2012
Battersea Power Station
Battersea Power Station produced a fifth of London’s electricity up till the 1980s. Since Sime Darby Property became one of the owners of the iconic 42-acre site, it has created a new community with homes, shops, cafes, restaurants, cultural venues, and an open space for London.
2012
Launch of the City of Elmina Township
With the vision to develop an ideal location for a balanced lifestyle, Sime Darby Property launched the City of Elmina Township. Nestled next to a 2,700-acre forest reserve, intertwined with kilometres of scenic cycling and running tracks, City of Elmina strives to be a township that fulfills every aspect of the residents’ wellness.
2018
Launch of Malaysian Vision Valley 2.0
The state led private sector driven development is envisioned to be a world class metropolis that is competitive, inclusive and clean, and aims to attract international and local investors, creating job and business opportunities. The overall development spans 379,087 acres covering the districts of Seremban and Port Dickson
2020
The launch of KL East Mall
The first wholly owned retail mall. The mall has a gross built up of about 1.2 million sq ft and a net lettable area of 384,210 sq ft
2022
Launch of Malaysia’s first Inclusive Playground in City of Elmina
It was designed in collaboration with critical end users such as children with and without disabilities, parents, grandparents, and technical specialists, namely Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, Early Intervention Practitioners and Educators.

SEARCH FOR INNOVATORS OF TOMORROW

In conjunction with our 50th Anniversary, we are proud to partner with the Ministry of Education and Star Media Group in the 'Innovators of Tomorrow 2022' competition. A total of 31 schools participated with 198 team registrations and 176 video submissions. Congratulations to the Top 10 teams that stood out for their originality and innovative ideas for a more sustainable future.

While we celebrate a 50-year legacy, we look forward to the next 50 years and a better tomorrow alongside these bright minds of the next generation. Watch our journey with them in the Innovators of Tomorrow Finals event here.

We continue our commitment to improve biodiversity conservation within our townships, to ensure the wellbeing of communities and nature. In conjunction with our 50th Anniversary, we aim to achieve an even bigger harvest through our tree planting initiatives. Recently, we organized a 'plantable paper' sowing at KL East Park, followed by a tree planting event at Elmina Rainforest Knowledge Centre (ERKC).
